ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ 2.1 ਕਰੋੜ ਡਾਲਰ ਦੇ ਫੰਡ ’ਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੋਕ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਿਭਾਗ (DOJE) ਨੇ ਐਲਨ ਮਸਕ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ਼ ਲਿਆ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਡੋਨਲਡ ਟਰੰਪ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ।

DOJE ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਨਿਚਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ‘ਐਕਸ’ ’ਤੇ ਇਕ ਪੋਸਟ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਈ ਮੁਲਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੋਣੀ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਨੁਦਾਨ ਹੁਣ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋਲਦੋਵਾ, ਨੇਪਾਲ, ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਈ ਦੇਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।

ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਦਾ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਡੋਨਲਡ ਟਰੰਪ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਦੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਇਆ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੋਦੀ ਨੇ ਐਲਨ ਮਸਕ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ 'ਤੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਯੂਪੀਏ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਖ਼ਲਅੰਦਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਆਈਟੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਮੁਖੀ ਅਮਿਤ ਮਾਲਵੀਆ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ "ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਆਪਰੇਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।"

The US government has completely stopped the $2.1 million funding intended to increase voter participation in Indian elections. This decision was made by the US Department of Government Empowerment (DOJE) under the leadership of Elon Musk, who was appointed by Donald Trump last month.

DOJE announced on X that grants for electoral participation in multiple countries, including Moldova, Nepal, and Bangladesh, have now been revoked.

This move comes shortly after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US, where he also had discussions with Elon Musk.

The BJP targeted the Congress, accusing the previous UPA government of encouraging foreign interference in Indian institutions. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya stated, "Congress had no hesitation in allowing foreign operators into India's Election Commission."
