ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬੋਰਡ (ਸੀਬੀਐੱਸਈ) ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੇਤਰੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ, ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ, ਨੂੰ ਨਜ਼ਰਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਣਾਅ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ 'ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਸਿਆਸੀ ਦਬਾਅ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ, ਸੀਬੀਐੱਸਈ ਨੇ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟੀਕਰਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦਸਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੋਰਡ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਾਈਡਲਾਈਨ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸੰਕੇਤਕ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਹਰਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੈਂਸ ਨੇ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੀਤੀ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਮਾਹਿਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਗਠਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਇੱਕ ਨੋਟੀਫ਼ਿਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਘੋਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬੋਰਡ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਹੋਣ। ਇਸ ਨੋਟੀਫ਼ਿਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਸਕੂਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬੈਂਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੈੱਸ ਕਾਨਫ਼ਰੰਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੀਬੀਐੱਸਈ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਜ਼ਰਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਸੌਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੀ ਅਣਦੇਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਧਰਮੇਂਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖਣਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਤੈਅ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਘੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਈ ਵਿਭਿੰਨਤਾ 'ਤੇ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ, ਜਿਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ ਥੋਪਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਿਤ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਅਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ। ਬੈਂਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਈਵੇਟ ਸਕੂਲ 'ਐਮਿਟੀ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਸਕੂਲ' ਨੂੰ 'ਪੰਜਾਬ ਲਰਨਿੰਗ ਆਫ਼ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਐਂਡ ਅਦਰ ਲੈਂਗੂਏਜਿਜ਼ ਐਕਟ, 2008' ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ 'ਤੇ 50,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਐਕਟ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਵੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)'s recent examination reforms, which seemingly sideline regional languages, particularly Punjabi, have ignited political tensions in Punjab. The Punjab government has labeled this central decision as an attack on the Punjabi language, while opposition parties have also criticized the central government. In response to the political pressure, CBSE clarified that the guidelines issued for the 10th-grade board exams are merely indicative and that no subject will be excluded. Meanwhile, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that Punjab will introduce its own education policy, with an expert committee to be formed soon for this purpose. The Punjab government has issued a notification mandating Punjabi as a compulsory core subject in all schools across the state, regardless of their affiliating educational board. According to this notification, certificates from schools that do not teach Punjabi as a core subject will not be recognized. Minister Bains, during a press conference, stated that CBSE's new educational framework attempts to marginalize Punjabi. He mentioned plans to write to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding the neglect of Punjabi in the education policy draft, seeking accountability of the concerned officials. Bains emphasized that this move violates the rights of states and the federal structure, constituting a direct assault on the nation's linguistic diversity. He asserted that such attempts to impose a singular ideology will not be tolerated and demanded due importance and respect for all languages, including Punjabi.
