ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀ ਵਲੋਂ 5 ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਗਵਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਕਤਲ ਕਰਨ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ 'ਚ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਨਰਾਜ਼ਗੀ ਵਧਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਈ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਚਾਇਤਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀ ਮਜਦੂਰਾਂ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਮਤੇ ਪਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ। 
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ 20 ਲੱਖ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੋਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੱਲੇ ਲੁਧਿਆਣੇ ਜ਼ਿਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ 8 ਲੱਖ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਵਧਦੇ ਜੁਰਮ ਦੇ ਚਲਦਿਆਂ ਜਿਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਤੇ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਉੱਠ ਰਹੀ ਓਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਇਸ ਵਰਤਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਅਸਰ ਦੂਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਵੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
