ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਬਿਕਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਲਈ 17 ਮਾਰਚ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਜਾਂਚ ਟੀਮ (ਸਿਟ) ਅੱਗੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਸਟਿਸ ਜੇਕੇ ਮਹੇਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੈਂਚ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨਾਵਲੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਲੋੜ ਪਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ 18 ਮਾਰਚ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ। ਅਗਲੀ ਸੁਣਵਾਈ 24 ਮਾਰਚ ਨੂੰ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੈ।ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ, ਅਕਾਲੀ ਆਗੂ ਬਿਕਰਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਐਂਟੀ-ਡਰੱਗ ਸਪੈਸ਼ਲ ਟਾਸਕ ਫੋਰਸ (ਐੱਸਟੀਐੱਫ) ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ’ਤੇ 2018 ਵਿੱਚ ਕੇਸ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਅਦਾਲਤੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਬੰਦ ਰੱਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਜਨਰਲ ਗੁਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਾਂਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਬਿਤ ਹੋਏ।ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਕੀਲ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੁਵੱਕਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੋ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਜਾਂਚ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, 31 ਜਨਵਰੀ 2022 ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਫਰਵਰੀ 2023 ਤੱਕ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਹਲਕੇ ਲਈ ਚੋਣ ਲੜਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਨੂੰ 23 ਫਰਵਰੀ 2022 ਤੱਕ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਚੋਣ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈ ਸਕੇ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠਲੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਤਮ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
