Do you have a beautiful suit you keep saving for the right occasion?
In this episode of Kitaab Kahani, Ranjodh Singh tells the story of H.G. Wells' 1909 masterpiece — The Beautiful Suit(originally A Moonlight Fable). A mother makes her son the most beautiful suit he has ever seen — deep green, golden buttons, golden embroidery. But she wraps it, covers it, protects it. He can only wear it on special occasions. Until one moonlit night, he decides he can't wait any longer.
This punjabi audio kahani is not just about a suit. It is about the talent, joy, and freedom that life gives us — and the social restrictions that ask us to save it for "later." It is about the dangerous habit of waiting for a perfect moment to be happy.
You will take away:
Why saving your gifts and passions for "someday" is the greatest risk you'll ever take
What the mother's restrictions really symbolise in H.G. Wells' story
Why the moonlit run is one of the most powerful images in world literature — and what it means for how you live today
Kitaab Kahani is Radio Haanji 1674 AM's daily Punjabi audio story series — new stories every weekday morning, free on all platforms.

Morning energy arrived in full force on 20 May 2026 as Radio Haanji 1674 AM's Laughter Therapy kicked off with children joining host Ranjodh Singh before school, setting the stage for one of the most entertaining episodes in recent memory. From a locked-out host with a blocked nose to riddles that stumped the entire studio, the morning had the Punjabi community in Melbourne laughing from the first minute.
Mannat opened with a husband-wife shopping joke that hit perfectly. Fateh then challenged the studio with a riddle about something that has a nose but cannot smell — the answer being a teapot — and handed out Bitcoin fines to anyone suspected of using AI for the answer. Tegh brought a traditional Punjabi well riddle that accidentally got leaked mid-session, earning instant paper-leak jokes. Yuvraj delivered a husband-wife punchline that required a very fast exit, and young Tavneet wrapped the riddles up with a single word that is simultaneously a fruit, a bird, and a nationality — Kiwi.
The standout moment of the morning was Gaba Sahib's return after weeks away due to illness. He came back with a live, heartfelt performance of the timeless Surjit Bindrakhia classic Tere Wich Tera Yaar Bolda, delivered with full soul and leaving the studio speechless. Laughter Therapy airs every weekday morning on Radio Haanji 1674 AM, Melbourne's home of Punjabi and Hindi community radio, and all episodes are available to stream free at haanji.com.au.

In an era defined by constant connectivity, maintaining mental equilibrium has become a complex challenge. Many individuals find themselves running on empty, moving from hectic work weeks directly into demanding social schedules without a true moment of rest. When the activities meant to rejuvenate us leave us feeling more exhausted than before, a foundational shift in how we approach self-care is urgently required.Navigating this terrain requires a delicate balance of personal boundary-setting and professional intervention. According to historical tracking data from mental health advocates, a significant portion of the population navigates chronic stress in isolation, often due to societal pressures to maintain a flawless external appearance. True well-being begins when we strip away the performance of happiness and look closely at our actual psychological needs.Understanding how to access authentic Australian mental health support is a vital component of this journey. Whether you are dealing with everyday burnout or deep-seated systemic anxiety, learning to read your emotional baseline ensures that you can take actionable steps toward healing before stress evolves into a full crisis.

This is one of those stories that starts with a wedding and ends with a woman learning to stand on her own. It does not end happily in the way Punjabi films do. It ends better than that.
ਮਨਦੀਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਦੀ ਲਾਡਲੀ ਧੀ ਸੀ। Her father, Niranjan Singh, loved her the way Punjabi fathers love — quietly and completely. When her studies finished, the family started looking for a match. A boy from Malwa, settled in Canada, good family, solid land. Her bhhua brought the lead. Everyone approved. Photos were exchanged. Enquiries were made. The wedding was fixed.
The ceremony itself was everything it was supposed to be. Niranjan Singh held nothing back. And when it was over, he felt that relief Punjabi fathers know — the weight of a daughter's future briefly lifted, the quiet pride of having done right by her.
But sometimes the doing right part is not as simple as the wedding day makes it look.
