ਮੋਗਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਕੋਕਰੀ ਕਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਵਾਲੀ ਤਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਕੌਂਸਲਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ। 
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਦਿਨੀਂ ਐਰਾਰਟ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀ ਬੈਠਕ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਬੋਬ ਸੈਂਡਰਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਅਰ ਅਤੇ ਤਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬਸੰਮਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਮੇਅਰ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਦੱਸਣਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤਲਵਿੰਦਰ 2008 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਕਰਮਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੀਜ਼ੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਆਈ ਸੀ।

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's 350th Shaheedi Commemorations at Australian Parliament House - Radio Haanji

Today on Radio Haanji, we are honoured to share details of a historic and deeply significant occasion for the Sikh community. We have with us Jaswinder Singh from Sikh Volunteers Australia, who spoke about the upcoming national commemoration marking the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
This unprecedented event will take place on:Thursday, 27 November 2025Great Hall, Australian Parliament House, Canberra11:00am to 3:00pm(Guests are requested to arrive by 10:00am)
Jaswinder Singh explained that this gathering holds extraordinary importance—not just for Sikhs in Australia, but for all those who value freedom of belief, justice, and humanity. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Ninth Guru of the Sikhs, is remembered globally as:The “Hind Di Chadar” – The Shield of IndiaA martyr who stood against tyrannyA defender of human rights, freedom of religion, and universal peaceA saint who inspired courage, compassion, and moral strength
Jaswinder Singh highlighted that hosting this commemoration inside the Australian Parliament House is a profound moment in Australian multicultural history. It reflects the country’s recognition of Sikh contributions, values, and the community’s unwavering commitment to the selfless service.
Mr Singh emphasised that this event offers all Australians—regardless of background—an opportunity to reflect on Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s timeless message:“Stand for truth, protect the oppressed, and uphold freedom for all.”
This is a free, open, and inclusive event for the wider community. Families, students, interfaith representatives, and individuals from all walks of life are warmly invited to participate in this historic commemoration.
