This week's Laughter Therapy on Radio Haanji 1674 AM is one for the ages. Hosts Dr. Preetinder Grewal and Ranjodh Singh opened the phone lines to the youngest members of Melbourne's Punjabi community — and the result was forty minutes of completely unscripted, heartwarming, laugh-out-loud magic. Arnav kicked things off with a riddle about a driver and the punchline "the brakes!" while Tegh had everyone in stitches with the most innocent mispronunciations of Punjabi household words you'll ever hear. Amber reported on her honey bread breakfast and delivered a spot-on Oggy impression, and Fateh brought his guitar along to play a live folk number — with Punjabi pronunciation that left the hosts genuinely impressed. Mannat was the episode's emotional highlight — a girl who baked a heart-shaped roti for her mum, made bicycle-tyre round ones for her dad, and then recited an original poem titled ਮਾਂ ਪਿਤਾ (Maa Pita) that left both hosts lost for words. Tavneet and Ashlin came armed with riddles about a T-shirt and a shoe, and the entire show paused to celebrate birthday girl Shreya turning four on air, with every child on the line joining in to sing. This episode is a love letter to the Punjabi community in Australia — to parents raising bilingual kids far from home, to grandparents listening from their living rooms, and to everyone who finds comfort in hearing their mother tongue on the radio. Tune in, share it with your family, and don't be surprised if you end up a little emotional by the end. #RadioHaanji #LaughterTherapy #PunjabiPodcastAustralia #PunjabiRadioMelbourne #IndianRadioAustralia #PunjabiCommunityAustralia #1674AM #BestPunjabiPodcast #MelbournePunjabi #PunjabiDiaspora #HaaanjiCom #PunjabiKids #IndianRadioMelbourne #PunjabiPodcast2026 #RadioHaanjiLive

ਜਿੰਦ — the word means soul in Punjabi. It is also the name of a woman who lost her husband at nineteen and spent the next six decades learning to take up less and less space in the world.
This episode of Kitaab Kahani brings you a short story by Harpreet Brar Sidhu, narrated by Ranjodh Singh, about what happens when a person suppresses everything — every laugh, every tear, every desire for a new suit of clothes — for so long that the mind eventually cannot hold it anymore.
The story follows Jind from her widowhood, through her silent decades, into old age where she begins to slip — talking to her dead husband, singing bolian to herself, picking up a red dupatta and remembering who she once was. The family calls it madness. A doctor calls it overflow. And one young granddaughter-in-law calls it what it really is: a woman who simply needed someone to listen.
This is not an easy story. But it is a necessary one — for every family that has an elder who "seems fine" because they never complain. For everyone who has confused silence with peace.
Narrated with depth and warmth by Ranjodh Singh. Written by Harpreet Brar Sidhu.

Some mornings, all you need is a good laugh. This episode of Laughter Therapy on Radio Haanji delivers exactly that — and then some.
On 12 May 2026, the show opened with young caller Yuvraj's tale of a very determined man, one very evasive mosquito, and a shoe that never quite found its target. Jessica followed with a sharp observation about why married men make the best employees — delivered with the kind of deadpan timing that only a child can pull off. These early moments set the tone perfectly: funny, warm, and completely human.
Then came the episode's standout segment. Mannat called in to reveal her secret weapon for keeping her younger brother Fateh — a budding cricketer — healthy: coating amla and avocado in butter and telling him they were treats. It was funny and tender all at once, the kind of sibling moment that every listener with a little brother will recognise immediately.
The bujhartan (ਬੁਝਾਰਤਾਂ) segment brought clever wordplay from Ashis Kaur, with a riddle about why the letter 'B' never feels the heat, and from Japhleen, who poked gentle fun at the great diaspora dream of moving to Canada. Finally, the episode closed with the whole studio joining in a birthday chorus for Parnavat Singh Sohi on his very first birthday — a quiet, genuine moment of community that Radio Haanji does better than anyone.
