In today's Kitaab Kahani, we bring you a deeply emotional Punjabi audio story about Preet — a daughter-in-law who gave everything to her in-laws, only to be told to leave with nothing.
This story is for every Punjabi family that has ever struggled with the tension between daughters and daughters-in-law, between loyalty and fairness, between gossip and truth.

In this episode of Indian Updates on Radio Haanji 1674 AM, Ranjodh Singh and Senior Journalist Pritam Singh Rupal dive into the critical headlines shaping India this May.
The discussion opens with a major judicial development: the Supreme Court’s scrutiny of the Election Commissioner appointment process. Why does the court believe a Cabinet Minister’s presence on the panel might compromise the commission’s independence? We break down the arguments for a neutral third member and what it means for the future of Indian elections.
In Punjab, a new administrative move is causing political friction. The "Special Intensive Revision" of voter lists is set to begin in June, but opposition parties are already raising alarms about potential voter exclusion. Is this a routine update or something more politically motivated? We look at the history of such revisions in West Bengal and Bihar to provide context for the current fears in the Punjab diaspora.
Finally, we address the sobering news of the Uttar Pradesh storm that has claimed over 100 lives and a distressing safety failure in Delhi that echoes the Nirbhaya case. Why does the unorganized transport sector continue to fail women, and how can digital identity verification close the gap in background checks?

On 15 May 2026, Laughter Therapy on Radio Haanji 1674 AM turned into something truly special. Hosts Yash and Ranjodh Singh opened the mic to some of the most entertaining young voices in the Punjabi community, and what followed was one of the most joyful episodes in recent memory.
Ashish kicked things off with a classic Punjabi riddle about a clothes stand that had everyone guessing. Tegh followed with a brilliant boli about wearing a parna and immediately being handed a broom by mum. Amber delivered a Punjabi-infused version of Johny Johny Yes Papa that the hosts absolutely could not handle. Siblings Manat and Fateh told the world about their dad who claims he never sleeps — but is secretly watching Indian dramas until midnight. Yashika dropped a perfectly timed joke about a wife waiting until midnight to eat because her husband is the one doing the cooking. And Birk Singh wrapped it all up with a classroom joke arguing, with flawless logic, that rotting apples don't become bananas.
This is Laughter Therapy at its best — raw, warm, culturally rooted, and completely hilarious. Stream all episodes free at haanji.com.au or tune in live on 1674 AM Melbourne.

Federal Budget 2026: Special announcements for migration, property and Public Healthcare

A food delivery worker picks up his last order of the night — simple khichdi, curd, two bananas. At a third-floor flat in the old part of the city, an elderly woman opens the door. Trembling hands. Thick glasses. And one quiet request: "ਦੋ ਮਿੰਟ ਬੈਠੇਂਗਾ?"What unfolds in that room — over a ticking clock, faded family photos, and a half-eaten meal — is one of the most moving Punjabi audio stories ever told on this show. A story about loneliness, about the price of absence, and about the one thing parents count that isn't money." After this episode, you will call home.

Wednesday's Laughter Therapy on Radio Haanji 1674 AM was all kids, all energy — and this one had everything. Hosts Ranjodh Singh and Krishna Bhardwaj took calls from young listeners who came ready with Punjabi teegs, classic Pappu jokes, a sher about a husband's salary disappearing into a saree, and one girl named Mannat who showed up with a song she actually wrote herself. Teeg kicked things off with a Punjabi riddle about ਕਪਾਹ (cotton), Arnab gave us a clever one about a road that goes everywhere without moving, Ashleen asked about window blinds, and Tavneet closed the riddle round with a river that runs but never walks. On the jokes side, Yuvraj's Pappu told his teacher he was vegetarian and asked to be made matar paneer instead of murga — the logic was airtight. Renaz dropped a perfectly timed sher about a wife's new saree costing a full salary, Fateh had Pappu handing a Hajmola to a beggar with a full stomach, and Mannat's Tina ended a whole domestic argument by calling her husband a kaddu. Then Mannat performed her original song, Meri Maa, Mera Pita — an emotional tribute to parents with AI-generated music — and reminded everyone why this show is worth tuning into every single week. #LaughterTherapy #RadioHaanji #PunjabiPodcast #PunjabiPodcastAustralia #IndianRadioAustralia #PunjabiRadioMelbourne #BestPunjabiPodcast #PunjabiKids #PunjabiJokes #PunjabiRiddles #HaaanjiCommunity #PunjabiCommunityAustralia #IndianCommunityMelbourne #1674AM #MeriMaaMeraPita
